Importance Of Learning ‘Creative Use Of Mind’

The human brain is designed to be alert and active always, and that,  with the use of the mind, one is able to think critically. Creative use of the mind is productive, which aid imagination which result from the originality of thought. Robert Sternberg describes creative use of mind as the production of “something worthwhile and original”.
To throw more lights on the use of mind creatively, critically, is a phenomenon whereby something new and somehow valuable is formed. It may be intangible such as; idea, musical composity, scientific theory, or joke. Also, tangible as inventory, painting, etc. Aiming for a single, correct solution to a problem or multiple answers to a set problem contributes to creativity.
In our daily life activities, using the mind creatively is important to us in many ways.
Learning creative use of mind enable the individuals to produce ideas by finding relationships between facts. Facts merely on their own are useless unless until one sees the connection between them. When you see the connections, between facts, you will be able to create something different. Sun Tzu said sometime ago that, “can you imagine what i would do, if I could do all I can”
Development of a wide range of skills is a great way to discover the connection of idea.
Besides, not learning creative use of mind will only produce ideas but will also empower the individuals to invent, communicate in new ways, imagine, solve problems, etc. Every business requires creative thinkers in the form of scientists, technology innovators, business entrepreneurs, artists, engineers, designers, researchers, to mention a few.
It help teach cognitive skills such as mathematics and scientific teachings, foster communication, imagination also, problem solving and making interpretations.“Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were, but without it we go no where” by Carl Segan.  Learning creativity also expands ones perceptions, and along with expanded perceptions comes new ways of solving problems. Those who engage themselves into learning creative use of mind view problems as opportunities for improvement. Concerning creativity as a tool for solving problems, Albert Einstein said, “we cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them”. Anytime one solves a problem, he or she has a better product or service to offer afterwards.
Learning creative use of mind seem interesting and satisfying, in that, you will never feel as if you have hit a dead end, because you will have the capacity to see what others can’t. Due to that, Thomas Edison applied his creative thinking, putting it into test through trial and experimentation.

Besides, it makes one learn something new everyday.  This comes about exploring libraries to find new tutorials and articles on topics relating to his or her freelancing niche and attain new ways of expressing himself which at the end, becomes part of him forever. It shows the capacity of growth within the learned individual. “I never did anything by accident or did any of my invention come by accident; they came by work”.(Thomas Alva Edison). When you are creative minded, you feel as if the world and all that is it is vibrantly alive. For this reason, Chris Widener quoted,  “You conceive your world in your mind and then create it with your hands.

Apart from these, learning creative use of mind boost your confidence and renders you self reliant. When you know that you need not to rely on external factors for mental stimulation. Its a major personal triumph, when you know that you are living up to your true potential, you tend to boost.

In a nutshell, since creativity is something natural, the mind has to be developed also, in order to exhibit the potential in you. Using the mind creatively is a prime need of all humans and its denial brings about a pervasive state of dissatisfaction and boredom. And this reason, its requires that, you shouldn’t just stick to what you are naturally good at. Those with the ability to think outside the box will lead the future and make special things happen. Thus,  it is so much important to avail yourself in order to learn creative use of mind.

Leaders Should Keep On Educating Themselves

In this world, since ancient days, till date, both major and minor groups of any sort is headed by one person, thus, such person tends to be the leader. Even in the animals kingdom, they assume leadership. It is expected of such a leader to lead his/her followers into the achievement of goals and objectives. Many people believe that leadership is simply being the first, biggest or most powerful. Simply put, a leader is therefore interpreted as someone who sets direction in an effort and influences people to follow that direction. Roland Reagan quotes “…the greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that get the people to do the greater things”.
It is worth acknowledging for a leader to be kind, matured, educated, and should understand peoples feeling, thinking, vision etc. Indeed, leaders keep on educating themselves, in that, educating a leader may be formal /informal or both. “If you want to lead people, you must first educate yourself “ (Dr. Donald Peters), president of the Dominica State College, 2013. For instance, leaders can learn during seminars, conferences, through college teaching (lecturing) and also reading inspirational books concerning leadership, moreover, successful leaders.
In addition, one of the reasons why leaders should keep on educating themselves is to acquire good communication skills. Communication is one of the key elements of leadership. Good communication skills need to be learned to effectively be a good leader. On the path of communication, also in education, the best educational leaders are excellent communicators. A leader needs to know how to relate to his people (followers). It is essential for a leader to learn and be good at speaking other languages apart from his/her mother tongue, thus, a leader cannot  lead a group of people without speaking (communicating) with them.
Moreover, leaders should keep on educating themselves to be more resourceful and open to new ideas. Especially, during tough economic times, technology helps change the ways of the people, the institution around the leaders’ vicinity, leaders including teachers needs to be open to new ideas that may improve the vicinity bound to lead. Leaders need to know how to use the resources they have to the best of their ability. Everyone benefits from such kind of leadership mentality. John Quincy Adams quotes “if your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader”.
Besides, leaders still need education in order to understand risk and how to think about it as leaders do, stay open to new possibilities and finding solutions instead of perfect idea on critical issues, as a result of these, the leader tends to be a creative leader and good planner.

Furthermore, being a good leader, one should keep on educating him/herself to be good at decision making. Educated leaders use intuition as an internal communication resource. Leadership intuition delivers valuable foresight to a business, employees and to customers when it comes to organizational. Ray Kroc said “the quality of a leader is reflected in the standards they set for themselves”. Leaders need to avoid hazards of decision making under employee or stakeholder pressure, also, they will able to confidently evaluate alternatives without getting stuck in “analysis paralysis” when continue educating themselves.
Evidence shows that, leaders who engages themselves into education will have a positive impact on his/her followers (ie. employees, community etc) satisfaction or commitment. John F. Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States, quoted “Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other “ Therefore, leaders should keep on educating themselves everyday and everywhere they find themselves.

Importance of Learning ‘Communication’

Academic discipline in higher education are routinely called upon to explain and justify their role in the educational enterprises. The discipline of communication is fairly unique as it crosses our academic boundaries. “Communication is therefore the imparting or exchanging of information by speaking, writing or using some other medium. Communication is a skill that you can learn. It is like riding a bike or typing. If you are willing to work at it, you can rapidly improve the quality of every part of it”. As a result, a need exists to provide rationale for the study of communication.
Competence in oral communication (listening & speaking) is perequisite to ones academic, personal and professional success in life. Indeed teachers delivers most instructions for classroom procedures orally to students. “Listening is the communication skills used most often in the assimilation of information and the most neglected in foreign language”.(Norris,1993). Anyone with ineffective listening (receptive) skills fail to absorb much of the material to which they are exposed.
Like many others, I would argue that communication is an important engine of the 21st century as daily life, including our work lives is shaped by the fact that we live in a smaller, more connected, more globalised world.
Communications enables us to learn about other cultures, strengthen  social ties, create business and understand interpersonal relationships and facilitate exchange of information. Communication is fundamental on so many levels, it is important to study its mechanism so that we better understand it internal workings to give us a much broader understanding of the world around us, and of how we can influence it.
Moreover,  to providing graduates with valuable, employment enhancing skills such as team work, critical thinking, analysis and problem solving skills,  creating strong oral and written slills that can be used in their professional lives. John Powell quoted saying “communication work for those who work at it. Learning communication also give graduate individuals important insights in into the world than can broaden their horizon and concepts of the world.
Similarly, this aspect is rewarding enriching and also regarded by employers. Good communication skills would help one to be easily employed. As individual mature and becomes working adults, competence in communication continues to be essential skills which are required in most occupations. “Communication is everyones’ panacea for everything” by Tom Peters. Employers identify communication as one of the basic competencies everyone (graduates) should have, asserting the ability to communicate is valuable for obtaining employment and maintain job performances.
Besides, individuals  and graduates who learn communication and afterwards look to finding employment in business sectors where their skills are needed to communicate with a client-base,advertising (marketing), graduates also find work in communication based industries such as broadcasting, online communication, politics and public relations. Paul J. Meyer said, “communication-the human connection-is the key to personal and career  success”. Communication skills are also demanded in other business sectors including, information technology, financial services, healthcare, community organizations, to list a few.
In addition, learning communication can improve self-knowledge and self-perceptions because, most self knowledge comes to us through communication.
Communication also improves the way we see others. As communication is the way we meet others, we are able to develop and manage relationships and work effectively with them.

The communication discipline, being an essential component of the educational enterprise; from pre-school to adult education. “Whatever words we utter should be chosen with care, for people will hear and be influenced by them for good or evil”. (Buddha). This article indicates that, communication education develops the whole person, improves the work of education, advances the interest of the society, bridges cultural difference and improves career and work of business. For these reasons, its important and recommends that communication curricula should be led and taught by specialist trained in the discipline and in department that are dedicated to the study of communication.
